Poverty and Participation in the Media - Advertising Pressure - 2009

Introduction

Interviews looking at the pressure that advertising puts on people, rich and poor alike, to be full-time consumers. Participants are from Marsh Farm estate in Luton, Larkhall and the Pepys estate in South London.

Does advertising pressure help to create poverty by encouraging over-spending on unnecessary things? What does it mean for those who cannot afford the consumer lifestyle? Issues like these can be discussed on the Spectacle Blog.

These interviews have been produced within Poverty and Participation in the Media Workshops with Spectacle. All interviews and production conducted by participants.
