The Glass Ceiling

SCENE 1. INTRODUCTION

  1. Public space - Overexposed daylight

Wide: People walking in a public space. Oblivious, self involved. The tones are cold and lacking in colour; the individuals remote.

SCENE 2. BELOW THE GLASS

  1. Glass ceiling space - High contrast illumination

Close-up: People trapped under a glass ceiling. Feet pass over, obscuring those below.


SCENE 3. ABOVE THE GLASS

  1. Public space - Overexposed daylight

Wide: People keep on walking without interacting with each other. One of them falls down.

SCENE 4. BELOW THE GLASS

  1. Glass ceiling space - High contrast illumination

Close-up: The man who has fallen down appears below the glass. Others from above the glass appear the same space. Taken aback by the change they start banging the glass ceiling.


SCENE 5. ABOVE THE GLASS

  1. Public space - Overexposed daylight

Wide: People from above can hear the muffled and distant sound of the knocks but cannot see where the noise is coming from.

Close-ups: Several shots of people from below the glass floor. People from above become aware and help the banging until glass breaks.

SCENE 6. ENDING

  1. Daylight

Wide: People from both of the sides are together in the same space. They interact contentedly.
