Introduction

August 1992 Lichtenhagen estate, Rostock, former East Germany. Police withdraw as fascists petrol bomb a refugee centre and the home of Vietnamese guest workers while 3000 spectators stood by and clapped.

Using material filmed from inside the attacked houses and interviews with anti-fascists, the Vietnamese guest workers, police, bureaucrats, neo-nazis and residents, a story of political collusion and fear unfolds.

En français: La Véritément à Rostock En août 1992, dans la ville portuaire de Rostock en ex-RDA, un groupe d'extrême-droite attaque une résidence pour réfugiés vietnamiens sous les encouragements de 3000 spectateurs. Les autorités politique et policière locales cafouillent, et une histoire de collusion et de peur se dessine. Le documentaire de Saunders et Cleary reconstitue l'incident à l'aide d'images filmées de l'intérieur par les réfugiés vietnamiens.

Versión española: La verdad yace en Rostock es un documental ambientado en la antigua República Democratica Alemana, en el distrito de Lichtenhagen, Rostock. En Agosto de 1992, un grupo de la extrema derecha ataco una residencia de refugiados vietnamitas bajo el apoyo de 3000 espectadores.

El documental de Saunders y Cleary recrea el incidente a través de las imágenes rodadas directamente desde el interior de las casas de los vietnamitas atacados. Una historia de conspiración política que nos llega a través de las entrevistas a miembros anti-fascistas, refugiados vietnamitas, policías, burócratas, neo-nazis y residentes de Rostock.
